About

Matthew Alan Rivera is a self-taught pianist and composer creating original music and enjoyable new takes on familiar favorites. Arizona desert born in 1981, a natural solo piano player composing his first songs in kindergarten, Matthew taught himself how to play on the keys by making up his own songs, and by "figuring out" his favorite songs by ear. In fourth grade, he started playing clarinet and switched to saxophone in high school. After graduating high school in 2000, Matthew spent a decade in Portland, Oregon where he has since poured focus on his own music on the piano releasing his first solo piano album, "...or something like that," in 2008 for a benefit concert supporting NAMI (the National Aliance on Mental Illness). Shortly after, Matthew got a ukulele for Christmas '08 before leaving the Pacific Northwest in 2009 when he and his Wife, Janeanna, came to the Midwest. Currently they are living the small-town Minnesota life in Wanamingo. Matthew is now  working on many new musical projects which can be followed on Patreon and YouTube
